Your space. Your pace. No pressure.
You’ve found us. That’s the first step.
There’s no front desk here. No forms waiting on a clipboard. No one asking you to explain yourself before you’ve even sat down.
Just a gate into a garden, and a home away from home where people get it.
What is The Veterans Cottage?
This is a space built by veterans, for veterans.
Some of us have served in different places, at different times, in different roles. But there’s a shared understanding that doesn’t need spelling out.
You don’t have to be in crisis.
You don’t have to have the “right” words.
You don’t have to prove anything.
You can just come as you are.
What you’ll find here
You’ll walk through the gate into a garden that’s been shaped by veterans’ hands.
Step inside, and you’ll see it straight away. The walls carry pieces of people’s stories. Not for show. Just quiet reminders that others have been here before you.
And somewhere nearby, there’ll be a kettle on.
There’s always a kettle on.
You can sit down, have a brew, and take a minute. Or an hour. Or longer.
Talk if you want to.
Say nothing if you don’t.
No pressure. No expectations.
How we support
We’re here to support you in a way that feels right for you.
That might be:
We’re not here to replace clinical services. But we are here to walk alongside you and help you find what you need.
Sometimes, the hardest part is knowing where to start.
This can be that place.
No cost. No catch.
If you’re a veteran, the support you and your family receive here is free at the point of need.
That’s made possible by the wider community around us. People who choose to look after their own wellbeing here, knowing that it helps to fund yours too.
You don’t need to worry about that side of things.
Just focus on you.
Before you visit
You don’t need to prepare anything.
You don’t need a referral.
You don’t need to have it all figured out.
Just come through the gate.
Final word
You’ve carried enough on your own.
You don’t have to do that here.
We’ll put the kettle on...
