The Veterans Cottage was created from a simple but important need — to support the wellbeing of those who have served.
We recognised that many veterans face challenges not just during service, but in the transition to civilian life. From that understanding, the Cottage began to grow — becoming a space that offers support, connection, and a renewed sense of purpose.
Today, we provide a welcoming environment where veterans can access wellbeing services, build meaningful connections, and take part in social and networking opportunities. Whether it’s through holistic therapies, coaching, or simply sharing a conversation, everything we offer is designed to support the individual behind the uniform.
What makes the Veterans Cottage truly special is that it has been shaped by veterans themselves. We listen, we learn, and we continually adapt to meet the real and evolving needs of our community.
We are committed to creating a space where every veteran feels seen, supported, and valued — a place to reconnect, rebuild, and move forward with purpose.
We are more than a service — we are a community.
At the Veterans Cottage, we are a collective of veterans, supporters, and wellbeing practitioners who are passionate about making a difference. We bring together lived experience, professional skills, and a shared understanding of the challenges faced during and after military service.
We are fun, welcoming, and down to earth — creating a space where people can relax, connect, and feel part of something again. There’s no pressure, no judgement — just genuine support and camaraderie.
We are veterans supporting veterans, alongside a wider community that cares. Many of us have walked similar paths, faced our own challenges, and now choose to use those experiences to help others.
We are peer mentors, listeners, and guides — offering support through conversation, shared understanding, and practical help. Whether it’s wellbeing, social connection, or finding a new direction, we stand alongside those who walk through our doors.
Above all, we are dedicated to building a sense of belonging, purpose, and community — because no one should feel alone after service.
We provide a safe, welcoming environment where veterans can access support for their wellbeing.
That might look like:
We don’t replace clinical services, and we don’t try to. We’re here to support, not diagnose.
To listen, not label. And to help people take that next step, whatever that looks like for them.
Here’s where things work a little differently.
The Veterans Cottage is a Community Interest Company (CIC).
That means we exist to benefit the community, not to make profit for shareholders.
Any money we generate goes straight back into what we do.
In simple terms:
And every time someone from the wider community chooses to invest in their own wellbeing here… They’re also helping to fund support for a veteran.
It’s a model built on shared care.
Support doesn’t always start with a diagnosis.
Sometimes it starts with:
That’s what this place is for.
A first step.
A pause.
A reset.
The Veterans Cottage isn’t just a building. It’s a community.
Veterans. Families. Local people. Businesses.
All playing a part in something bigger than themselves.
Because when one person gets support, it doesn’t stop there.
It ripples out.
We’re not here to fix people.
We’re here to make sure no one has to face things alone.
If you’ve served, this place is yours.
And when you’re ready… We’ll put the kettle on.

We believe support should feel natural, not clinical. That it starts with trust, not forms.
The Veterans Cottage is built on the idea that sometimes the most powerful thing you can offer someone isn’t a solution, it’s a space.
A space where you’re understood without having to explain everything. Where you can take things at your own pace.
No pressure, no judgement, just people who get it and a place that feels like it was made with you in mind.
What we offer is simple, but meaningful. A place to talk, or not talk.
A chance to slow things down. Access to wellbeing treatments in a calm, welcoming environment. And when needed, support in finding the right next step through trusted services and organisations.
We’re not here to overcomplicate things, we’re here to meet you where you are and give you what you need in that moment.
Our expertise comes from lived experience, not textbooks. It’s shaped by veterans, supported by trained wellbeing practitioners, and strengthened by a deep understanding of the challenges that can come with life during and after service.
We know what it’s like to walk through that gate for the first time, and we’ve built everything around making that step feel just a little bit easier.

She has worked with global companies, including supporting organisations entering Asian markets, giving her a strong understanding of career pathways, transition, and sustainable employment.
Passionate about veteran wellbeing, Cat combines her professional expertise with holistic support and coaching, focusing on the mind, body, and purpose. Her work is rooted in the belief that healing and growth come through connection, community, and the right support at the right time.
Her vision is simple but impactful — to create accessible, welcoming spaces where veterans can rebuild confidence, rediscover purpose, and move forward with strength and support around them.

Having served 24 years in a frontline infantry battalion, including seven operational tours in Iraq, Afghanistan, Sierra Leone, Bosnia, and Northern Ireland, Lee reached the rank of Sergeant Major.
Now, as one of the directors of The Veterans Cottage, he is dedicated to supporting fellow veterans who, like him, may face challenges in Civvy Street.
His core mission, working alongside our wellbeing team, is to ensure we reach those struggling - financially, mentally, physically, or with housing - so we can support them every step of the way.
Having personally faced PTSD, Lee is acutely aware of how it affects not only the veteran but their loved ones.
When a veteran - or their family - cries out for help, it’s vital they receive it swiftly, as we tragically lose too many veterans to suicide. It’s Lee's commitment to ensure no call for help goes unheard.

She served in the 101 (City of London) Engineer Regiment (EOD&S), a specialist unit focused on bomb disposal, IED response, and high-risk search operations. Her time in the military has shaped her resilience, leadership, and commitment to supporting others.
Gemma represents a younger generation of veterans whose voices are often underrepresented. She is passionate about ensuring they are seen, heard, and supported—particularly those navigating the transition from service to civilian life.
Alongside her role as Director, Gemma will be offering peer support and bringing a huge amount of creativity into the space—helping to shape a welcoming, expressive, and safe environment for all who walk through the door.
She is a proud mum to two beautiful girls, and at her core is a kind, genuine person who leads with compassion, understanding, and heart.
Gemma is driven by purpose, connection, and a genuine desire to give back to the veteran community and their families.
Gemma’s words:
“So, so, so honoured to be on board. Not only is it such important work, but the difference we plan to make is going to be absolutely incredible for so many veterans and their families.
Support for veterans is at an all-time low. Promises around mental health support for PTSD aren’t being met, waiting lists are through the roof, homelessness is rising, and the transition out of service isn’t always smooth. And it doesn’t just affect the veterans—it affects their families too.
We are so eager to make a real, positive impact—not just in our community, but to show others how it should be done, and why this work matters so much.”

The poppy represents resilience. It blooms even in the harshest ground.
From a wellbeing perspective, it honours the truth that healing isn’t soft - it’s courageous. And of course, it also carries a powerful connection to our veteran roots.
Our logo features two poppies on purpose:
One fully in bloom - representing hope, restoration and what’s possible.
One wilted, not lost - just in need of care, ready to rise again with the right support.
Because at The Veterans Cottage, we believe no one is too far gone to return to strength - whether you are the person seeking healing, or the person enabling it for someone else.
